The Opportunity

ITM is one of the largest independent building supply networks in NZ. ITM members gain the benefits of working together with similar businesses, national support and branding, increased buying power and importantly retaining the independence to grow their own business.

This role is an opportunity to take a senior role in one of the top performing ITM stores and progress through to a General Management position with the possibility of future equity.

Geraldine ITM certainly isn’t one of the biggest ITM’s, but its performance is impressive.

This performance reflects the sound position and respect that the business has generated in the region over the years. We have a reputation for knowing the building industry, understanding builders’ needs and constantly delivering quality solutions.
  
The Role

As Operations Manager, you will have a small team of sales focused staff reporting to you.

The role is 'hands on', working directly with customers, establishing relationships at all levels and understanding all facets of the day-to-day business.

Importantly however, you must also take a strategic view, supporting the owners in the development of the business, managing and developing key stakeholder relationships, exhibiting leadership and management capability, developing the team to deliver excellent customer service and building the knowledge and skills that will enable you to take further responsibility.

It is important to understand that the current strong performance of the business means there is nothing broken, however, we are always looking for positive change and improvement in business development and sales, operational management systems, and processes that will deliver improved customer experience and deliver bottom line profit.
  
  
Your experience
  
Knowing the building industry has been a key foundation of success for the business to date.
  
Therefore, you must have experience in the sector, ideally within the building merchant space.
  
Previous customer-focused operations experience will enable you to quickly get up to speed with the business and begin to add value. The owners will remain active and will work closely with you.
  
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage people in a small business is also required. The ongoing development of the team and their ability to work well together is the foundation for providing the consistent level of service the business is recognised for.
