Briefing & Meet Matt

The official briefing will be held at Matakana ITM in the drive-through on Thursday, 29th February at 6pm.

General Enquiries

Please refer to ITM staff on hand if you have any enquiries or questions.

Accommodation

There is limited accommodation in the Matakana area, so be sure to book early.

Weather

Organisers will be monitoring the weather two weeks out from the competition and will update the status one week out.

Organisers reserve the right to postpone the competition should the conditions not be suitable.

The skipper of each boat has the final say on the day.

Boat Launching & Parking

Launch Points

Boat ramps are available at Omaha, Sandspit, Algies Bay, Martins Bay, Buckletons Beach, and Scotts Landing.

Boat Parking

Berths are available at Sandspit Marina. Bookings are essential – phone (09) 425 0099.

Fuel

On-water fuel is available from Leigh wharf, and there are several gas stations in the area.

Fuel at Sandspit Marina is for members only.

Bait & Ice

Supplies can be purchased from Hunting & Fishing Warkworth, or local gas stations.

Food

Please provide your own food for the day and take plenty of water to stay hydrated (not just beer). There are supermarkets in Warkworth, and a Four Square in Matakana as well as local food outlets and bakeries.

Dinner will be supplied at the Rams League Club in Whangateau on Friday night only.

Communications

Team Captains’ cell numbers will be loaded onto our WhatsApp chat group called “Hook Me Up”. Feel free to upload photos and banter throughout the day to let everyone else know how you are getting on. Skippers will be sent an invite the day prior.

All crew members please check that your captain has his phone on him before departure.

We also ask that you tune into VHF Channel 6 for competition comms.

After Match Function & Prize Giving

The after-match function and prize-giving will be held at the Rodney Rams clubhouse in Whangateau.

Make your way to 511 Leigh Road, Whangateau.

Transport

Please be responsible on the night and arrange a sober driver or a taxi.

We will be running a shuttle service to get people home but expect delays as this service will be limited.
